Based on a true story, the future seemed bright for the girls on the West High School volleyball team from Iowa City, Iowa. After capturing the state title in 2011, they were ready to take on the feat of a rare back-to-back win the following year. Leading the team was Caroline Found, an energetic, lively and kind high school senior. But tragedy struck on August 11, 2011 when the 17-year-old lost control of her moped and her sudden death left her team stunned and struggling to cope. Now they must band together under the guidance of their tough-love coash (played by Helen Hunt) in hope of winning another state championship.
